Polopiqué has teamed up with Recover and Rieter for a new partnership that will make it possible to produce yarns with a higher percentage of mechanically recycled fiber without compromising quality and aesthetics. “Together, we are leading a new era in the sustainability of the textile industry”, says Polopiqué.
A new era “where circularity becomes an integral part of the production process”. The most commonly used mixture is 80% virgin cotton and 20% recycled, but the new partnership will manage to arrive at yarns that can incorporate almost 40% recycled fiber from post-industrial fabrics.
“Polopiqué’s mission is to continuously test, develop and create new products through disruptive technologies and the new use of raw materials. It is a privilege to be part of this project with two companies that were already our partners, especially considering the focus on sustainability”, adds Eduardo Guimarães Cunha, Weaving Director of the company, in a statement.
Recover’s expertise in mastering the latest recycling technologies, Rieter’s experience in textile machinery and Polopiqué’s proficiency in confection promise to bring this project presented at ITMA Milan, to fruition.
