As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, the JF Almeida group took another step: the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council, German certification body) chain of custody certification, which verifies the separation between certified material and non-certified throughout the supply chain, from the forest to the consumer.
Valid for five years and with annual checks, the new certification is essential for companies seeking access to environmentally and socially conscious markets and for demonstrating compliance with purchasing policies (public and private) that prioritize environmentally responsible materials.
On the sustainable front, JF Almeida also stands out for the investment of 1.2 million euros that guarantees the reuse of water equivalent to six Olympic swimming pools. There are around 15 million m3: 60% of the company’s monthly expenses are reused, meaning that only 40% is water that enters the system every 30 days.
Part of the optimization and commitment to the circular economy is the 360 yarn, created by the group through the use of waste from the production process, which allowed the reduction of two million m3 per year. Investment in the photovoltaic panels installation and biomass in 2022 is also part of the group’s numerous plans for sustainability.
