JF ALMEIDA AND MI CASA ES TU CASA SIGN CHARTER FOR DIVERSITY

The textile companies JF Almeida and Mi Casa Es Tu Casa have joined the movement and network of the Portuguese Charter for Diversity, an initiative of the APPDI, the Portuguese association for diversity and inclusion, under the slogan “Being different is part of us”. The list also includes the El Corte Inglés and Inditex groups within the sector.

The Charter for Diversity was created with the aim of encouraging employers to develop internal policies and practices to promote diversity. “The organisations that are signatories to this charter assume diversity as an ethical imperative, which translates into a basic and guiding principle for their internal and external situation, forming part of their values and institutional identity,” states the official website.

Among the topics that make up the charter are: “Assume, at senior management level and other hierarchical levels of the organisation, the creation of conditions for understanding, respect and promotion of diversity by all people”; “Promote people management practices that support the principles of diversity and inclusion with a special focus on equal treatment and opportunities in the recruitment, training, evaluation and remuneration process” and “Favour the creation of work teams based on the principles and values of this charter, valuing the distinctive characteristics and merit of each person”.
