IMPETUS STARTED USING POSITIVE CARBON COTTON

The Impetus group has just reinforced its sustainability goals with the use of Good Earth Cotton, the world’s first traceable and carbon positive cotton, produced sustainably. “Our goal is to dress the world with technical clothing that fits like a second skin”, says Ricardo Figueiredo, group administrator.

Led by innovation, measurement data and best practices, Good Earth Cotton leads the way to growing sustainable cotton worldwide. By employing smart agricultural practices, Good Earth Cotton holds more carbon than it emits during the entire fibre production process, thus having a positive impact on the planet.

The group has developed knitwear using Good Earth Cotton yarn, and it’s going to use them for its own brand, but also for the private label, anticipating the launch of new collections using this raw material as early as 2022.

This cotton yarn is 100% traceable – from its planting to the final product – using FibreTrace technology. “Traceability is essential for us to maintain strict production standards. With this yarn, the end consumer is sure that he is buying a piece made with 100% carbon positive cotton”, reinforces Ricardo Figueiredo.

At the same time, the Impetus group is also working on several other projects that share the common vision that a greener future is a better future, such as the partnership with Belba LLórens for the production of recycled yarn using its own textile waste.
