IMPETUS LAUNCHES NEW RECYCLED YARN AT TECHTEXTIL

Impetus had develloped several innovations to be shown at the Techtextil trade fair, which runs from April 23 to 26 in Frankfurt. N-lyfe, the first blend of recycled yarn produced by the Portuguese textile company, is the highlight of this new range.

“We had already developed two variations of the yarn. N-lyfe Cel produced with cellulose-based Impetus pre-consumer industrial waste, combined with Good Earth Cotton,” the company said in a statement. The second development, called N-lyfe PP, is made from polypropylene reused from cutting waste. “We turned them [the cutting waste] into plastic granules and created an upcycled yarn mixed with vintage polypropylene,” it explains.

But that’s not all. Impetus is also announcing the presentation of the first traceable polyamide. The commitment to sustainability will also be visible in the T-shirt 100% produced with biodegradable materials and dyed using a biological process.

“With the aim of being part of the mission to neutralize carbon emissions, Impetus uses ‘climate positive’ cotton, where modern and regenerative agricultural practices have shown remarkable effectiveness in reducing environmental impact,” it adds.

On display will be athletic performance garments with coooling capacity and moisture absorption. Moreover, there will also be workwear items made from polypropylene, a material that offers advantages such as “good thermal insulation, ease of maintenance, excellent durability and hypoallergenic characteristics”.
