BARCELCOM CELEBRATES 100 YEARS WITH NEW LOGO AND NEW MARKETS

Barcelcom, a company specialized in technical textiles for health and sport, has just turned 100, and to celebrate, in addition to presenting fresh products, the company is planning on reaching new markets. An expansion strategy that already has a new export destination, Iraq, and first orders were already shipped.

To mark the 100th anniversary celebrations, which will last until December, the company also presented a new commemorative image, and in terms of markets, Barcelcom’s main goal for 2021 is to accelerate the internationalization process that the pandemic has waged.

Despite the mandatory confinement, the company maintained its annual turnover in 2020 at around 2.8 million euros, and at the end of the year paved the way for a new market. “We managed to enter Iraq, a market that was totally unknown to us, and that opens new perspectives for the company. We already supply hospitals in Iran, and it was our Iranian partner that recommended us”, reveals Nuno Mota Soares.

The first orders destined for Iraq left Portugal at the end of February, and the Iraqi client is especially interested in hospital stockings for surgical environment.

To this new market, Barcelcom hopes to add all the other destinations that had to be postponed in 2020. The Medica Trade Fair, in Dusseldorf, which will be held at the end of the year, is a mandatory destination.
