ALEXANDRA ARAÚJO: LMA BETS ON A GREAT YEAR FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY

It is with strong optimism that Alexandra Araújo looks forward to 2022, not only for her company, but for the all Portuguese textile industry: “the ‘blame’ is on the path of sustainability that we have taken from scratch”, says the CEO of LMA. In 27 years of activity, LMA has never been so sought out like in recent months. “We look like a doctor’s office”, jokes Alexandra Araújo, who believes that it was not just digitization that helped the company during the pandemic.

“Digitization is important, of course, but it is not enough. Word-of-mouth plays a critical role, and LMA excels in service”, she explains, while ensuring that “no other country has taken the path of sustainability from scratch like the Portuguese textile and clothing industry has done”.

“We have made an extraordinary journey: from water and energy reduction, to raw materials and processes. In Portugal, companies are truly committed to walking this path”, the CEO adds. As an example, Alexandra Araújo recalls the Israeli client who had “a bad experience in Italy, where sustainability is just marketing”.
