Three From Portugal Forums at Heimtextil’s birthday

More than 50 Portuguese companies and three special forums, where sustainable textiles promise to attract all the attention, will be gathered in yet another edition of Heimtextil, this year celebrating its 50th birthday. Between January 7 and 10, more than three thousand exhibitors coming from all over the world will come together in Frankfurt, Germany, in a celebration that will count with a series of workshops, new exhibition areas, a night party and commemorative exhibition.

Sustainability is one of the great flags of Heimtextil’s next edition, and the Portuguese entourage couldn’t be more in tune with the fair’s agenda. Besides the two “The Portuguese Home Tex’Style” forums, filled with the industry’s most innovative products, the CITEVE’s Green Circle forum, which shows the best of what the Portuguese Textile Industry is achieving in terms of sustainability, will also mark its presence at the iconic German fair.

Amongst the From Portugal delegation, put together by Associação Selectiva Moda and that counts with more than fifty companies, the goal is to dazzle the international customers with new sustainable products, and to grow by conquering new markets and clients. The Portuguese Secretary of State for Economy, João Correia Neves, will be visiting the Portuguese exhibitors.

“We will present new products focused on sustainability”, reveals Angela Cadeia, Allcost Export Sales Director, adding that “Allcost’s international turnover has been growing from 49% in 2018 to over 65% in 2019. We are sure that the presence at Heimtextil 2020 will contribute not only to increase those numbers, but also to consolidate the growth over the coming years”.

Marking its presence at the largest home textile fair for about thirty years, Sampedro is bringing to Frankfurt a very large collection, encompassing the bed, table and bath segments. “We will present various linen articles, but also blends of linen with cotton, or 100% cotton. As we care about sustainability, we will also be presenting organic cotton, yarn with recycled fibre, blends with hemp and bamboo, and naturally dyed yarn fabrics”, states Simão Moreira Gomes, the company’s president.

“The highlight of our new collection will be placed on sustainable bedding, in addition to a whole panoply of new colours, materials and textures, with new added value”, says Carlos Carvalho, Coton Couleur CEO, a company devoted 100% to exports and that at Heimtextil hopes to consolidate the European market and also sign US and Asian buyers.

A strategy in line with the one outlined by A.Ferreira & Filhos/Homania’s, which will be presenting, according to Noël Ferreira, the company’s administrator, their “latest winter 2020 collection, made especially for Heimtextil, filled with eco-sustainable solutions”.

The Portuguese companies participation in Heimtextil is an initiative of Selectiva Moda and ATP – Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal, which aims to promote the internationalization of Portuguese fashion companies. The project “From Portugal” is co-financed by Portugal 2020, under Compete 2020 – Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization.
