PORTUGUESE COMMITTEE RETURNS WITH GOOD BUSINESS FROM PITTI BIMBO

The usual frenzy of international fairs is slowly returning with good results, and the feeling of mission accomplished from the From Portugal committee that said goodbye to Pitti Bimbo. Moreover, it’s important to note that, in addition to the presence of many Italian clients, buyers from Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Turkey also made their presence at this fair.

“Compared with the January edition, it was very positive. A surprising number of customers came to us from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar”, summarizes Rodney Duarte, export sales manager at FS Baby. A brand that committed to the extension of the line bath and organic materials and felt it was a good investment. “For us, the summer fair is always calmer than the one in January, and this time, the trend reversed”, he concludes.

Márcia Pacheco, from Wedoble, has a similar opinion and highlights the first day of the fair as the most interesting: “it’s always good to come back, even if the numbers are not as good as last year. But just to be with our agents it was worth it”, she says, adding that the absence of the most relevant fashion brand to children allowed Wedoble to take a more central position at the fair: “It was the first time that we were in the central pavilion and future editions we will ask to repeat the location”.

The absence of major brands and the small size of this edition were also noted by José Armindo Ferraz, responsible for the A&J and Dr. Kid, which participated essentially to show his collections but returned with sales to the Scandinavian, German and Dutch markets.

The children’s fashion fair took place from Wednesday to Friday of last week (June 22nd to 24th) and had a delegation from Portugal made up of the companies A&J, Cotton Moon, Dr. Kid, FS Baby, Meia Pata, Natura Pura, Noese, Phi Clothing, and Wedoble.

The presentation of Portuguese SME companies took place within the scope of the internationalization project From Portugal, an initiative from Associação Selectiva Moda and ATP, which aims to promote companies in the field of fashion across borders. The project is co-financed by Portugal 2020, within the scope of Compete 2020, through the European Regional Development Fund.
