An innovative graphene coating, developed in partnership with Fibrenamics (University of Minho) and applied to an apron that provides thermal, chemical, and electrical protection to whoever wears it, was the most relevant novelty brought by Penteadora to Techtextil from 21 to 24 June at Messe Frankfurt.
“We took a 100% wool base, a natural, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly fiber, and functionalized it by adding protective properties”, explains António Teixeira, director of Penteadora.
The new multipurpose product from this company of the Paulo Oliveira group, specialized in technical fabrics, is aimed at professionals who deal with medium or high voltage lines or work in steel mills or refineries.
The Multiscale Protech apron will be marketed under the Penteadora brand for technical fabrics – Pentashield. The prototype of a protective suit developed for the UMR-Unidad Militar de Emergency (the most prestigious elite group of the Spanish armed forces) also occupied a prominent place at the Penteadora stand on the island of Portugal.
