The textile sculptures of Marita Setas Ferro, founder of the Marita Moreno brand, will be on display at Future Icons Selects, the largest showcase of contemporary crafts. The event takes place between 16 and 19 May, during London Craft Week.
‘Things from nature’ is the theme of the Portuguese designer’s presentation, which is based on the representation of natural marine elements such as corals, anemones, starfish and shells. The sculptures, with a texture that appeals to the touch, are made from woollen, acrylic, polyester and polyamide yarns, and are filled with 100 per cent recycled polyester.
‘The event takes place on London’s South Bank and features over 50 artists from a multitude of craft disciplines, across several continents,’ the announcement said. Private collectors, interior designers, architects, brands and galleries are expected to visit, ‘looking for new names in ceramics, sculpture, biomaterials, embroidery, furniture and fine crafts’.
