Luís Buchinho designs Continente’s new uniforms

To dress a team made from more than 19 thousand workers was the challenge that Continente presented to Luís Buchinho. The new outfits will dress the entire supermarket chain, for a minimum period of five years. Overall, there will be more than 200 thousand garments made in Portugal.

“The outfits are intrinsically timeless because the challenge was to create something that stays up-to-date as time goes by”, explains the Portuguese designer. Six different looks were developed for the project (two shown in the picture), for different functions. “I sought to create pieces with more casual characteristics, close to sportswear”, highlights Buchinho.

Developed over the course of more than a year, the outfits will debut in all the Sonae supermarkets this October. Counting shirts, trousers, polo shirts and other items, around 224 thousand units have already been manufactured, all by the Portuguese Textile and Clothing Industry.
