ISPO TEXTRENDS HIGHLIGHTS 32 PORTUGUESE TEXTILE MATERIALS

There are 32 Portuguese textile materials distinguished within the scope of the ISPO Textrends Awards AW 2024-25. A.Sampaio & Filhos, Acatel, Carvema Têxtil, Gulbena, LMA, NGS Malhas, JF Almeida, Tintex Textiles, Olmac, TMR and Forteams Lab are some of the award-winning companies in this edition.

“Ahead of the United States and the European competitors, the Portuguese textile materials will receive 32 awards at the ISPO Textrends Awards Autumn/Winter 2024/25”, advances the organization of ISPO Munich. Moreover, along with this excellent result, “Portugal leads the winners of the first edition of the new ISPO Textrends – Awards – Apparel Edition contest, with nine distinguished sportswear products.

The official presentation of the prizes will take place during the ISPO Munich from the 28th to the 30th of November. “On the first day, the award ceremony for both ISPO Textrends contests will take place on the main stage of pavilion B2 – Future Lab”, details the organization in a statement. Tintex Textiles also announced that one of its fabrics received the ISPO Textrends Fall/Winter 2024/25 award but in the Outer Layer Selection category. The product is an ‘active double face’ with 94% Amni Soul Eco polyamide. This choice makes the end-of-life degradation faster when compared with a normal polyamide and 6% Elastane. “This fabric is ideal for sportswear pieces. It has technical finishes, such as antibacterial properties and water repellency, combined with smooth and dense surfaces to provide comfort and protection”.

A.Sampaio & Filhos, a specialist in circular knits, saw nine of its fabrics distinguished in Germany. Most of the distinctions are in the Base Layer category and stand out for their sustainable component. To get to know these products more closely, the Tyrsense company invites everyone to meet in Hall C2 of ISPO Munich.

The quartet Olmac, TMR, Gulbena, and FORteams LAB stand out in the new Apparel Edition contest of the ISPO Textrends Awards.

With trophies for three outfits to receive in Munich, Olmac won the Best Product in the t-shirts & pullovers category with the Stuborn Polo, a reversible polo shirt with mesh by A.Sampaio. The Miracle jacket and pants won the Top Product trophy in the Jackets & Vests and Pants & Tights categories. A triple success.

For the second consecutive edition, JF Almeida saw its Drytec towels distinguished at the ISPO Textrends Awards. The technical towels from the home textile company of Moreira de Cónegos are antibacterial and anti-odor, have a high absorption capacity and are quick-drying. Moreover, they also are recycled and recyclable products. After appearing in the Top 10 ISPO Textrends SS24, Drytec is now among the nominees by the jury for the ‘Selection’.

Less than a month before the fair, the number of registered Portuguese exhibitors has already exceeded the pre-pandemic participation: 42 national companies will be present at the world’s largest sports fair, taking with them a comprehensive offer “ranging from technical socks, from materials, clothing and sports shoes, to accessories for swimming pools and padel equipment”, concludes the organization in a statement.

Supported by Associação Selectiva Moda, through the internationalization project ‘From Portugal’, in partnership with CITEVE, the 42 Portuguese stands will be divided. Two From Portugal islands, ISPO Outdoor A1 pavilions, “with eight companies of seamless fashion and ”, and ISPO Textrends C2 “with 23 materials, accessories and clothing companies”, and individual stands compose the committee, completed by the sustainable iTechStyle Green Circle forum.
