EURATEX CALLS FOR EUROPEAN UNION SUPPORT AGAINST ENERGY PRICE RISE

Following the exponential rise in energy prices in several countries of the European Union – Portugal included – which caused costs to increase up to three times last year, the Euratex confederation calls on the European Commission to counterbalance these increases by ending the energy’s associated fees.

The European organization for textiles and clothing asks the Commission to ease the burden of energy costs by reducing the ICMS – Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services, applied to any product sold or service provided, as the energy supply.

On the other hand, Euratex calls for the development of a smart strategy by the European Union, to guarantee a sustainable energy supply in the long term at an acceptable cost for the industry.
