XAVIER LEITE: PORTUGAL 2030 MUST SUPPORT BIG COMPANIES

Companies that are considered to be large must be eligible for support in the scope of Portugal 2030 – argues Xavier Leite, 62, CEO of Têxteis Penedo.

“It’s an area that deserves further analysis. To its dimension, each company has its specific issues. I believe there should be more support to companies considered bigger, nevertheless in a different scale than those made available to SME’s”, states the entrepreneur.

“All companies deserve protection and support to continue their business, which brings added value to the country. SME’s need big companies that make up the critical mass of the country”, he adds.

During an interview with T, the CEO of Têxteis Penedo also reveals a very critical view of the support given to the industry by the Portuguese Government: “A more aggressive stance on behalf of the State is required, when it comes to AICEP. If we analyze the aggressiveness of the Spanish and Italian counterparts of AICEP, we see ours is lagging behind. They are much more aggressive, much more present”.
