WOOLMARK PARTNERSHIPS WITH LUNA ROSSA PRADA PIRELLI

Woolmark, an Australian company strengthening its presence in Portugal, has a new line of high-performance technical clothing developed in collaboration with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing competition team. The new range incorporates Australian merino wool as the relevant material.

The Woolmark Company continues to put the inherent technical benefits of merino wool to the test”, this time with clothing for “cycling, running and sailing”, reads the website. Among the advantages of this raw material is that it is a natural, soft, and warm fiber, ideal for high-performance sports activities due to its breathability and ability to regulate body temperature. It is also odor resistant and has natural antimicrobial properties.

“Focused on lightness, elasticity, strength, and moisture-wicking properties, our in-house experts teamed up with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli product development team armed with a selection of the finest commercially available Merino wool fabrics,” says John Roberts, Managing Director of The Woolmark Company.

The team in the 37th America’s Cup will wear the clothes. Regarding the partnership, Max Sirena, team director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, comments: “Using good quality sportswear for a team like Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli means boosting our performance. After testing the garments under a wide range of conditions during the previous edition, we discovered the unique properties of Merino wool in terms of elasticity, breathability, comfort, insulation, and water resistance.”
