Vilarinho bets on longevity at Première Vision

After presenting its Authentic Matter collection at Milano Unica and Munich Fabric Start, Vilarinho is concluding its European promotional circuit for the Autumn-Winter 2027/28 season at Première Vision Paris. The trade fair opened its doors this morning at Nord Villepinte, where the company is showcasing a selection of fabrics designed to strengthen its positioning as a technical and creative partner for premium brands, with proposals combining identity and longevity.

For the cold season, the company highlights two main product groups to T Jornal: compact constructions combining wool and recycled fibres, with brushed finishes, a soft hand feel and structure; and fabrics with irregular, tactile surfaces, developed in organic cotton and Tencel.

“Quality lies in the details that are not immediately visible,” says Ana Paula Dias, from the design department, on Tuesday.

In conversation with T Jornal, she also highlights three product families considered essential. The 100% Tencel twills are presented as the company’s “technical master”, combining fluidity and stability with a sustainable, certified fibre. The 100% cotton Vaielas represent the “comfortable authentic”, inspired by Portuguese tradition and characterised by their soft, brushed feel. Meanwhile, the cotton-wool blends embody the “durable winter” proposition, with a focus on thermal comfort.

Asked which fabric best reflects the balance between sustainability and performance, Ana Paula Dias points to a fabric made from 100% organic cotton and Tencel. Sustainability, she explains, is inherent to the fibre itself, while performance comes from the fabric construction, ensuring that shrinkage remains within the specified tolerances.

It is precisely this predictability that, according to the designer, builds customer loyalty at Vilarinho. Returning customers know they will find the same characteristics as in the previous season: the same density, width and construction, ensuring consistency that goes beyond appearance.

That trust is the result of decades of accumulated expertise. “It lies in the preparation, the yarn construction, fine-tuning the loom and the finishing. Everything has an influence,” she stresses.

This know-how is also attracting a growing number of customers who pay close attention to the origin of raw materials, their European sourcing and certification, and who are increasingly focused on the technical characteristics of fabrics rather than price.
