Among more than 500 applications and 12 finalist projects, the textile company Valérius achieved distinction in the SME EnterPrize awards and was distinguished as one of the three SME heroes of sustainability. “We have a unique project at the European level within the textile segment”, said one of the group’s managers.
“We are aware this is a leading project in this area, and we think this distinction is fair. This is still a recent project, which has effectively transformed much of what the textile industry is, not only within our companies but with other companies in Portugal and international brands that use our recycled materials and, normally, that arrive until the final piece, everything was made in Portugal, which until now was not possible as there is no fiber production in Portugal”, acknowledged Ana Tavares CEO of RDD, which belongs to the Valérius Group, when she took the stage.
The SME Enterprize distinctions distinguish the most sustainable companies operating in Portugal and encourage sustainable business models. This is an initiative by the Generali Group and Tranquilidade to inspire and encourage business models to adopt sustainability practices.
