TMG Textiles revealed in its first sustainability report that, in 2024, 85% of the waste generated was directed to recovery operations. The company also announced that it is developing a closed-loop project, which will allow the recycling of customer waste into new textiles.
Another significant milestone is in the use of raw materials: 18% of the fibers used in 2024 were recycled, compared to just 1% in 2022. In the same year, approximately 733 tons of yarn came from renewable resources, consolidating the integration of more sustainable fibers into its collections.
On the energy front, TMG managed to reduce total consumption by 18% and energy intensity by 45%, despite a 49% increase in production. This progress was achieved through the installation of a natural gas boiler equipped with an economizer, a compressor with electronic speed variation, as well as improvements in indoor lighting and control of compressed air leaks. In 2024, the company also began producing its own steam, with 56.5% of electricity consumed already sourced from renewables.
The report structures TMG’s sustainability strategy around four interconnected pillars: people, materials, processes, and operational structure.
“The year under review is particularly significant for us, as it represents the confirmation of the expansion of our product portfolio for different end-use applications,” says Vítor Fernandes, CEO, emphasizing that quality, respect for people, and continuous improvement are driving forces for facing the future “with ambition and optimism, even in such a challenging macro context.”
Sustainability Manager Helena Silva adds that TMG is still in the early stages of its decarbonization journey: “Next year we will continue to innovate, set ambitious targets, and communicate our progress transparently.” The publication of concrete measures in this area is planned by 2028.
Among the commitments made are increasing the use of recycled fibers, reducing energy consumption and specific waste, as well as social initiatives with a direct impact on employees, such as free psychological consultations and more flexible working hours.
With this report, TMG Textiles demonstrates how it transforms knowledge into opportunities, consolidating its position as a reference in the textile sector.
