TMG Automotive released its Sustainability Report for 2023 this week. Among the various parameters covered is the company’s investment in R&D, which amounted to around 6.5 million euros.
“Recent projects include the development of advanced materials and composites, technologies and improvements in production efficiency,” says João Fonseca, director of management control.
The document also notes a 19 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas intensity compared to 2021; a five per cent reduction in the use of solvents and 10 per cent less waste generated.
It also announces the company’s recent achievements, namely: the start of sales of new products that contain over 25 per cent renewable carbon, the approval of the Analyst project (which addresses issues related to PVC additives to ensure safety and sustainability) and the increase in electricity production for self-consumption, which has doubled since 2021.
At the end of 2023, TMG Automotive also inaugurated a new photovoltaic park that can produce 6.5 per cent of the electricity used at the plant. Also noteworthy is the presentation of the Waste Dashboard, a panel created using SAS Visual Analaytics technology that provides concrete data on waste: type, quantity and destination; as well as characterising the workforce.
The report also shows TMG’s dependence on natural gas, which continues to be its main source of energy, and on waste operators, since most treatment operations are not controlled by the company. Characterisation of the workforce and presentation of sustainability strategies and green finance are three other points explored by TMG.
