Somelos Acabamentos invited Sourcetextile to create a collection with finished fabrics developed in partnership with Archroma. Archoma uses a new dyeing process (New Dry Dyeing) that allows enormous water savings, and the result is already palpable. “Somelos remembered us due to its strong commitment to sustainability since the birth of our company”, says CEO Paulo Barbosa in an interview with T Jornal.
“We needed to make pieces in 100% cotton fabrics, but we challenged Somelos to end up with other compositions. We ended up with a collection in different raw materials such as cotton, lyocell, and linen, with different washes, which, depending on the material, generates different looks”, continues.
The result was at the last edition of Munich Fabric Start, where it was a success. “We showed it to our customers, and some have already joined the process”, says Paulo Barbosa. The collection consists of shirts, skirts, coats, pants, dresses, and tops. “This is a small sample of what we can do with this Ecodenim, which saves up to 97% of water. We started just for women, but we are already working with customers for men’s items”, adds the person in charge.
Moreover, all finishing processes in the final phase, carried out in partnership with Minority Denim, respect the ecological aspect intrinsic to the mission of Sourcetextile: saving water and energy and excluding chemical products.
