Solinhas Increases Production Capacity by up to 15%

Solinhas is strengthening its production and precision capabilities. The company’s latest acquisition is a more modern yarn winding machine, which allows the conversion from large cones to smaller ones. Speaking to T Jornal, Lurdes Fernandes explains that “the purchase of this machine has improved efficiency in yarn finishing, as well as energy efficiency.” The equipment is versatile, energy-efficient, and capable of responding more quickly to clients, who increasingly demand shorter lead times and smaller orders.

“Our production capacity has increased by between 10% and 15%, for sure. We no longer experience stoppages, and the cone finishing is significantly improved,” adds the head of the purchasing and export department.

This is just one of several investments the company has made in technology to enhance production capacity and quality control. “We are constantly renewing our machinery. We have also installed solar panels and adopted small practices, such as shipping our products without plastic bags, using 100% recycled cardboard for packaging, and reusing supplier boxes whenever possible. Ultimately, these measures reduce our consumption of raw materials. In addition, all of our cones are made from recycled plastic,” she lists.

The company is currently quantifying the savings generated by these changes. In the case of the solar panels, energy consumption has already been reduced by 35%. Plans also include the progressive digitalization of processes, with the first step already implemented through computerized stock management.
