A few days before the opening of Milano Unica, Portuguese textile manufacturer Sidónios Knitwear is preparing to unveil what it considers its strongest collection ever. Developed for the Winter season, the new range combines timeless aesthetics with a strategic focus on shorter lead times, reflecting the company’s commitment to helping brands respond more quickly to market demands without compromising on quality or creativity. In this interview, Sidónios Knitwear explains the inspiration behind the collection, highlights the products expected to attract the greatest interest and discusses the role of Milano Unica as a key international platform for strengthening customer relationships and expanding its global reach.
What collection are you presenting at this edition of MU? What inspired the creative direction of this collection?
Alexandre Silva, production engineer: At this edition of Milano Unica, we are presenting our new Winter Collection. It builds on the design language we introduced last year, further developing our vision of timeless elegance, sophisticated textures, and contemporary style.
I would even say that this is the strongest collection Sidónios has ever created. While every fabric has been designed to deliver an exceptional visual and tactile experience, we have also placed a strong emphasis on operational efficiency. Most of the collection has been developed to allow for the shortest possible lead times, enabling our customers to react faster to market demands without compromising on quality, innovation, or exclusivity.
Our goal was to combine creativity with practicality, offering a collection that is not only inspiring for designers but also highly efficient from a sourcing and production perspective.
Which products do you expect to generate the strongest interest during the fair?
We expect our Merino qualities to generate the strongest interest, thanks to their exceptional softness, comfort, and premium look. We also anticipate strong demand for our velour jacquards, as well as our elegant rayon and fluid fabrics, which combine a soft touch with beautiful drape and contemporary style.
What makes MU a strategic trade fair for your company?
Milano Unica has become a key meeting point for our business. It brings together not only our Italian customers but also clients from all over the world, making it the perfect place to reconnect with existing partners and, hopefully, meet new ones.
We also feel that the show shares a lot with our current design language. Its focus on quality, creativity, and contemporary elegance fits perfectly with the direction Sidónios has been taking over the last few collections.
What would surprise a first-time visitor about your company?
I think many first-time visitors are surprised by the breadth of our collection. At Sidónios, we can offer solutions for almost every knitted fabric need, and if a customer can’t find it with us, there’s a good chance they won’t find it anywhere else.
They are also often impressed by the level of quality, service, technology, and organization behind the company. We combine creativity with a highly efficient operation, allowing us to deliver premium fabrics with reliability and speed.
What is one thing your team is obsessed with improving every day?
Customer service is our biggest obsession. The fashion industry moves faster every year, so our team is constantly working to reduce lead times and become even more responsive. Our goal is simple: deliver premium fabrics with the speed and reliability our customers need.
