Savoir-faire with Innovation: Fitecom Makes Its Mark in the Wool Universe

The second day of Première Vision Paris is drawing to a close, and Fitecom reports a strong start to the fair with a fully attended stand, even after having welcomed clients at previous exhibitions. The collection is being well received and reflects this edition’s theme: Savoir-faire.

João Carvalho, CEO, tells T Jornal that the Covilhã-based company has, over the years, managed to stay up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with the market, while preserving “ancestral knowledge.” For him, this is the true meaning of savoir-faire.

This combination of technical expertise and team creativity in developing new structures has contributed to Fitecom’s recognition in the global wool industry, a fact clearly visible at this edition of the fair.

As the executive explains: “Wool, and blends of wool with other fibers, is what we truly do best.” Despite the fair’s success, João Carvalho notes that it appears “smaller than it used to be.”

It is also worth noting that Fitecom operates a DuPont-certified laboratory, where products are monitored from raw material to finished product. Additionally, the company is licensed by The Woolmark Company to sell Woolmark and Woolmark Blend products.

In the field of sustainability, the company has heavily invested in solar energy and will complete this year its investment in a wastewater treatment plant (ETAR) as part of the GIATEX project, aiming to optimize water use. This also reinforces the association of Made in Portugal with the fair’s “Living Sustain” concept, a theme promoted by the organizers.

Before exhibiting in the City of Light, Fitecom had already participated in other international fairs, including SODAC, Munich Fabric Start, Milano Unica, The London Textile Fair, and Preco Paris, where it presented its Spring-Summer 2027 collection.
