Riopele this week announced a new project to restructure its warehousing operations, aiming to rethink internal logistics and strengthen operational efficiency. Jorge Oliveira, the company’s logistics and planning director, explained that the initiative seeks to align industrial operations with a long-term vision, making them more integrated, agile, and capable of meeting the demands of an increasingly dynamic textile market.
In practical terms, the project involves redefining warehouse locations, layouts, and internal macro-flows, including relocating the storage point closer to the main consumption hub, Olifil. This reorganization is expected to reduce distances, eliminate redundant movements, and simplify logistics operations, fostering stronger integration with production and greater resilience to fluctuations in demand.
Expected benefits include fewer internal transports, reduced handling times, and the release of resources, contributing to a more efficient and streamlined operation. Additionally, the project will free up areas currently occupied by logistics infrastructure, creating opportunities for productive reconversion, leasing, or potential divestment.
Sustainability plays a central role in this restructuring. According to the company’s study, the new logistics configuration should reduce the carbon footprint associated with internal movements by an estimated 1,650 tonnes of CO₂ per year. “Logistics becomes more integrated with production, more efficient, and more sustainable,” concludes Jorge Oliveira.
