Renova Launches Toilet Paper and Kitchen Rolls Made from Recycled Textile Fibres

Renova has just unveiled a groundbreaking new range of products: toilet paper and kitchen rolls produced from a blend of recycled textile fibres and other natural fibres.

“The idea grew from Renova’s vocation to seek alternative fibres and to give value to materials that would otherwise be discarded,” a company spokesperson told T Jornal. “We have been striving to innovate at the intersection of sustainability and design, and reusing textile fibres was a natural and logical step.”

The new products are distinctive to the touch, deliver premium performance, and feature a refined appearance, while being fully flushable. The raw material comes from textile finishing waste, defective fabrics or post-consumer garments that would otherwise end up in landfills or incinerators.

The key lies in the innovative recycling process that transforms textiles into pulp. Both pre- and post-consumer textiles that cannot be resold or reused are shredded, with zippers and buttons removed, bleached, and processed into pulp. Non-cellulosic contaminants, such as polyester, are eliminated. This textile pulp is then blended with natural fibres, resulting in a completely new paper sheet.

The development of this product required extensive research, laboratory analysis and industrial testing to achieve the best balance between structure, softness and resistance. According to Renova, the launch of this “Textil Papier” is not a one-off marketing exercise but a concrete step forward in its ecological transition.

The first products are already available on shelves, including in international markets such as Norway and Germany. With strong growth potential, Renova has also expressed interest in forming partnerships with Portuguese textile companies.

“With strong storytelling and genuine sustainability credentials, we believe this product can become an international benchmark in tissue paper innovation,” the company concluded.
