RDD HIGHLIGHTED IN SOURCING JOURNAL AS PANGAIA’S PARTNER

Pangaia’s strategic alliance with RDD is highlighted by the Sourcing Journal as the responsible for the sustainable products that guarantee the success and prestige of the British brand. The most recent example of this partnership is the Reclaim collection, made from the waste of the Portuguese textile’s productive process.

The prestigious publication explains that RDD – Research Design Development is the experimental arm of the textile group Valérius, which worked with Pangaia to launch textile products such as FrutFiber and PlantFiber, which incorporate agricultural by-products, and C-Fiber, which combines eucalyptus cellulose and seaweed powder with natural dyes made from Himalayan nettles and wildflowers.

Amanda Parkes, director of innovation at Pangaia, reveals that “with RDD, we can literally go from early stage research to the final product”. The London-based company is, in turn, able to help RDD create new products, and to measure the environmental impact of “everything we want to create”.

RDD’s latest innovation is the fibre O/Range Citrus Textiles by RDD, which results from the processing of high quality pulp extracted from leftover oranges. Described as “soft, with a silky touch, light, and that can be used alone or mixed with other fibres”, it makes the most of the waste generated by the food industry.
