Spain and the United Arab Emirates are the defined geography for the 2020 international expansion of Prochef, the Portuguese brand of uniforms for restaurant professionals and the hospitality sector.
From September 25 to 27, Prochef will integrate a committee of 20 Portuguese companies that will attend a trade fair in Dubai – a presence that might open the gates to the appealing markets of the Emirates in the Persian Gulf.
Meanwhile, after having reached a deal to dress the chef Martin Berasategui, as well as its restaurant brigade in San Sebastian (Lasarte-Oria) and in Lisbon (Fifty Second, in Torre Vasco da Gama), Prochef is preparing a coordinated attack to the market of Portugal’s neighbouring country, with the image of the famous basque chef at helm.
“We are perfecting the design of a uniform specifically thought-out for chef Martin Berasategui, which combines formality and comfort. It will be the best jacket he has ever had”, ensures Orquídea Silva, founder and leader of the Prochef group.
The design and development of the product is made by a mother-daughter team – Natacha Magalhães, 28, graduated in Design from ESAD, and Orquídea Silva, 51, who studied Small Business Management in Johannesburg, where she was born and lived the first 27 years of her life.
“We use very thin fabrics, 100% cotton, since the atmosphere in the kitchen is very warm. Our priorities are comfort and freedom of movement”, concludes the leader of Prochef, which releases two collections every year and a couple of capsule-collections, such as one with a camouflage pattern that will be out soon.
