Several works by Portuguese artisans were present from November 8th to 10th at the 10th edition of the contemporary design fair Down Town Design Week in Dubai. Highlight in the textile area are the sculptures by Marita Setas Ferro, founder of the Marita Moreno brand.
The designer took some of her Portuguese know-how to the Persian Gulf. The soft Sculptures are made in crochet/knitting, with different threads and volumes, and take the form of natural elements, such as marine elements (anemones and corals).
As part of the Double J Collective project, the works were also opened in a new gallery in the Dubai Design District, building 7. The Portuguese ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Fernando Figueirinhas, was present at the opening; the ambassador, Joana Figueirinhas; the Economic Advisor for the United Arab Emirates, Manuel Couto Miranda, and the artist Ahmed Al Awadhi. The Doube J Collective project founders, Jonathan Silva and Jorge Cerveira Pinto, did the honors and gave visitors a guided tour.
