On 6 March, Performance Days concluded another edition whose main focus was on promoting sustainability. The ‘Trend Forum Fabrics’ reflected the organisation’s concern with the transparency of its exhibitors, with Portuguese samples inevitably being selected by the jury, as made in Portugal is at the forefront of environmental responsibility and innovation.
Sidónios Malhas is a good example: the company had two knits chosen in the ‘Softshell & Outer Layer’ and ‘Function meets Fashion’ categories. ‘In this edition of Performance Days we sent several samples to the jury for evaluation, and we saw two of them chosen for the ‘Trend Forum Fabrics’’, says Alexandre Silva, from the management team.
In the first category, a three-layer fabric was chosen, with soft, breathable wool on the inside, a breathable membrane at the core and a fine nylon fabric on the outside. To illustrate the perfect match between functionality and fashion, a three-thread jersey was highlighted, combining an antibacterial nylon yarn on the inside with a mixture of tencel and cotton on the outside and an elastane yarn, which is ideal for several days of use.
‘The forums are always a positive enhancement to what we display on the stand. They guarantee visibility, attest to the exclusivity of our articles and promote us as a company that is at the forefront of innovation, which is very good,’ Alexandre Silva told T Jornal.
She further added that the first day of the fair was interesting – ‘we made some strategic connections that we hope will be fruitful. We’re now looking forward to the second day and hope that the forums will serve as an attraction,’ she concludes..
Also in the selection, available to check online, are the following companies: A. Sampaio, in the ‘Focus Topic’ category with Chem ft Holistic, a knitwear made from Good Earth Cotton and dyed with biological dyes at low temperatures, and Inovafil in the ‘Base Layer’ category with Clean Bamboo, an innovation that maintains the properties of bamboo and has a silky feel.
In the ‘Midlayer’ categories there are the following names: Vilartex, with a jacquard fleece made of biodegradable polyamide and elastane, which is guaranteed to decompose by more than 70 per cent in both water and soil after 1,107 days, and NGS Malhas with a blend of 68 per cent Good Earth Cotton and 32 per cent merino wool, whose main characteristics are moisture absorption and temperature regulation.
In the ‘Shirts’ category we see NGS Malhas again, but featuring a piqué fabric made from a blend of organic cotton and recycled polyamide. The former to offer breathability, softness and moisture absorption, and the latter to provide durability, elasticity and shape retention.
Next up were the categories: ‘Pants & Tights’, with Portuguese representation by TMG Textiles with Vera Cruz, an item made from 100 per cent recycled cotton, and ‘Function Meets Fashion’, with an interlock by Vilartex.
