Portugal Takes a Sustainable Stand at Texpremium with ATP Support

Texpremium kicked off this Tuesday at the Business Design Centre in London, marking two intense days of business opportunities for Portuguese companies Bloomati by Carvema, Magma Têxtil, and Troficolor Denim Makers. Their participation is part of the internationalization project Sustainable Textile & Apparel From PORTUGAL, led by ATP – the Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association. They are joined at the event by Burel Factory, Fitecom, Paulo de Oliveira, Riopele, and TMG Textiles.

Rui Moreira from Bloomati says visitor reception has been positive so far: “We’ve made many contacts today, and some seem to have good potential,” he told T Jornal. He adds that he’s pleased with the event: “We’ve been attending this show for a few years now and it continues to leave a good impression. It’s a more exclusive fair, with only European exhibitors, unlike The London Textile Fair, where the Asian market occupies a large part of the stands. Here, there’s more space and potential to reach the UK market without the distractions of more aggressive markets,” he concludes.

The show also started well for Troficolor Denim Makers. “Texpremium is not a high-traffic fair, but it attracts a more premium audience, which allows for deeper conversations with clients and the establishment of strong partnerships based on quality and service,” explains Ana Magalhães, the company’s export sales manager. She highlights that preparation made a difference: “We contacted clients in advance and scheduled meetings. They are showing up and are open to our proposals.”

Magma Têxtil has noticed slightly lower footfall compared to previous editions. However, the company still managed to draw the attention of some British brands with its collection of knits that blend sophistication, comfort, and innovation. “We’ve been investing in eco-friendly yarns, such as bamboo with recycled cotton, seacell with organic cotton, hemp, and recycled wool blends — creating fabrics that combine quality with greater environmental responsibility,” shares Joana Guimarães, representing the company.
