Olmac innovates with pieces that go both ways

The 50% saving in energy and water consumption is the sustainable attraction of the two-piece-in-one concept, invented by Olmac and enchanted the ISPO Textrends-Apparel Edition jury to the point that they decided to award it three prizes, of which one of Best Product.

The two-in-one concept is simple – which even rhymes with keeping it simple, which is one of the megatrends for the future – and sustainable. Each piece is reversible, meaning you can wear it on both sides. Here, innovation consists of seeing everything double.

“We washed two items in a single wash”, summarizes Orlando Miranda, Olmac’s manager, highlighting the sustainable and functional characteristics of the three award-winning items – a polo shirt (Best Product), pants, and a jacket (Top 10) – which there are seven pieces.

The award-winning polo has a printed and cotton version but can also be worn inside out, plain, and in recycled polyester. The same grammar is applied to the pants and the jacket, and this one goes even further in the concept, as it is a three-in-one: worn on both sides, and it also has an attachable heating interior, which can be used autonomously.

Orlando Miranda is happy with the awards (“The Best Product from ISPO is a good label”, he explains) and the 2022 performance. 2022 will be the best year for the company, which should close the accounts with a turnover of 13.2 million euros, an increase of almost 20% over the 11.4 million invoiced last year.

But there are clouds on the horizon.

“Based on the customers feedback, I’m worried about next year. Orders have already started to slow down. Before making more purchases, they are trying to run out of stocks”, analyzes the businessman, who expects a recovery in 2024.
