Maxigrau, a clothing company based in Barcelos, has three new items in its portfolio, all made from sustainable, national fabrics. With Riopele it produced a coordinated top and skirt in lyocell and piñayarn, which Maxigrau describes as a unique blend with exceptional comfort, performance and eco-friendliness.
‘It’s soft on the skin, durable and biodegradable,’ they wrote on social media. ‘The combination of the softness of lyocell and the strength of pineapple leaves creates an innovative and ecologically responsible fabric,’ it reads.
Tintex Textiles also helped Maxigrau create unique pieces, in this case a shirt and shorts in cleanbamboo, lyocell and hemp and a jacket in the same materials. ‘Cleanbamboo significantly reduces the use of water, is breathable and ideal for any temperature,’ they describe, noting that it incorporates the Naturally Clean finish which gives the garment 20% more durability, as well as an extra soft touch and vivid colours.
The latest innovation is a trench coat made with cork coating, another sustainable creation by Tintex to replace leather with cork waste. ‘We will continue to maintain strategic partnerships with research centres and other relevant players to maintain our leadership in sustainable production and in line with the objectives of the European Union,’ says the company.
