Louropel today has the capacity to produce 12 million buttons a day at its three centres of activity and is known in all four corners of the world. Korea and Sri-Lanka are just two examples of the countries where Louropel is present. This leading position as a supplier of buttons and other accessories is the result of a constant commitment to new machinery, new developments, certification and the maintenance of highly competent human resources.
The company based in Louro, Vila Nova de Famalicão, has relied mainly on recycled and natural raw materials to create its buttons: wood, coroso and pearl are some examples of the materials used. To which T Jornal can add the less likely: potato starch, coffee grounds, cotton, horn powder and recycled paper.
Metallised and leather buttons were other options on display at its MOD’Unica stand, the second of which is entirely handmade. Only 15 per cent of Louropel’s production is destined for the domestic market, the rest is exported. The American market has been a good recipient of its products.
