Impetus took part in the Global Fashion Summit, an event created to discuss the main agenda in terms of the environment, society and ethics with the leading names in the global fashion industry, which took place from 21 to 23 May in Copenhagen under the theme: ‘Unlocking the next level’.
Tércio Pinto, board member of Impetus group, was the guest speaker on the panel ‘Tipping the scale on circular material adoption’ on the 22nd May. Innovation as a way to create stronger purchasing commitment mechanisms, price and performance in circular textiles were the basis of the debate, which also included an exchange of ideas on the changes required in the system to reward the reintroduction of textile waste.
The event organisers highlighted the ‘vast textile experience’ of the Impetus board member and presented Refibertech – Recyling Hub as a reference project. Tércio Pinto was one of the two Portuguese names on the talks programme, which included interventions from major fashion groups such as Kering, H&M and Zalando. Pangaia, Maersk, Circ, The Microfibre Consortium and Recover were other companies that made presentations.
Elsa Parente, representing Positive Materials, was also present at the Global Fashion Summit on 22 and 23 May, taking part in the TRAILBLAZER project, promoted by the Global Fashion Agenda in conjunction with PDS Ventures.
The summit was divided into three Stages: The Concert Hall Stage, Action Stage and Studiostage. The session that included Impetus was on the Concert Hall Stage, dedicated to the main discussions on the industry’s challenges, aligned with the five sustainability priorities presented by the Global Fashion Agenda: Safe working environments, better wage systems, resource management, smart material choices and circular systems.
