Impetus collaborates on Octarine Bio project to advance PurePalette colours

Octarine Bio has secured support to scale its PurePalette colours in a real textile production environment and has called on its long-standing partners, Impetus and Samsøe Samsøe, to collaborate on the project’s implementation. On social media, the Portuguese group Impetus announced the partnership yesterday, stating that the initiative aims to accelerate the development and adoption of bio-based colours and expressing enthusiasm for the next steps and their positive impact on the future of fashion.

The funding, worth approximately €683,000, was awarded under the Miljøteknologisk Udviklings- og Demonstrationsprogram, a programme administered by the Danish Ministry of Environment. The support is intended for the implementation of a demonstration project focused on the industrial application of biotechnology-based pigments, enabling the technology to be tested in a real textile production setting.

The project aims to demonstrate the use of PurePalette pigments in dyeing processes and in finished apparel products, while validating the technology’s technical performance, industrial scalability and environmental potential. This initiative reinforces the sector’s transition towards more sustainable solutions, contributing to the development of innovative and environmentally friendly practices in the fashion industry.
