FUNDÃO TOWN HALL PROMOTES ‘LÉRIAS – THE ART OF LINES’ PROJECT

The result of Lérias, a project that brought together Fundão City Hall and Lusófona University, can now be viewed in catalogue format. Created with the aim of preserving a Portuguese tradition, the collaboration has shown that tradition can be combined with innovation and an aesthetic sense. Women’s clothing, children’s clothing, handbags, jewelry, and other accessories and decorative objects make up the catalogue.

‘It’s a project that we’ve cherished since 2016 and that we intend to continue cherishing for the near future, because we believe in the results that it can bring to our people. Póvoa de Atalaia and Atalaia do Campo would like to thank all those involved in preserving and enhancing this technique that is so unique to our land,’ said Rui Domingues, president of the local authority.

‘The focus on training is a strategy, we’re going to follow up and keep this ancestral technique alive,’ says Alexandra Cruchinho, the project’s coordinator, pointing out that two 40-hour training cycles have been organised to allow students from Lusófona University to absorb the knowledge passed on by the local population. The catalogue can be viewed here.
