From hotel to home: Sampedro now sells directly to consumers

After more than 100 years supplying hotels, local accommodation units, spas and restaurants, Sampedro has announced the launch of an online store open to the public. From today, end consumers, independent professionals and small businesses – namely boutique hotels, local accommodation providers, restaurants, SPAs and wellness centres – can purchase the company’s in-stock items directly.

The offering covers all the usual categories: bed linen, bath towels, table linen and a variety of products for hospitality, catering and everyday comfort. “We have received many requests from customers who love our products and wanted to be able to purchase them without minimum order requirements, with fast delivery and the full trust of the brand,” the company explains.

Speaking to T Jornal, administrator Diogo Gomes said the “Check In” collection emerged from a concrete need. “Over the past few years, we have received daily enquiries from private customers who had stayed in hotels supplied by Sampedro and, after a memorable experience, contacted us to purchase the bed linen, bath sheets or robes they had used. At the same time, owners of local accommodation units, restaurants and SPAs also expressed interest in buying our products. Until now, we were unable to respond to these requests, as we mainly work on a made-to-order basis and with minimum quantities that, although relatively small, still exceeded the needs of these clients.”

To address this demand, the company conducted an in-depth analysis of its bestsellers and developed a complete collection covering Bed, Table, Bath and SPA/Pool categories. In each segment, three different quality levels are available, allowing customers to adapt their choices to their available budget. “In this way, it is now possible to fully equip a local accommodation unit or restaurant, with deliveries within 48 hours,” he emphasised.

The online store was also designed as a showcase of Sampedro’s textile heritage and family legacy, highlighting its vertically integrated production – a factor that gives the company agility – as well as its commitment to premium quality and sustainability, with a preference for natural fibres such as cotton and linen.

Regarding strategic objectives, Diogo Gomes notes that this move will make the purchasing process faster and more intuitive. “Customers no longer depend on exchanging emails with the commercial team; they can directly access detailed product information and complete their purchase independently.”

With this initiative, the company aims to reach €1 million in sales by 2028. In a first phase, the online store has been launched for Portugal and Spain, with expansion to other markets planned in the near future.

Plans also include the development of a Home collection aimed at the end consumer, featuring the company’s best-selling products under a private label model. This line will include prints, jacquards and plain designs in the raw materials most commonly used by the company – such as 100% cotton, 100% linen, bamboo and Tencel.

Increasingly recognised as a benchmark in Portugal, Sampedro operates mainly in the four- and five-star hospitality segment, where it has been recording sustained growth. In 2025, the company supplied more than 200 hotel chains and increased its turnover in this segment by 15% compared to 2024, reinforcing its position in a demanding and highly competitive market.
