FLM TÊXTIL OBTAINS TRACEABLE SEAQUAL MARINE PLASTIC CERTIFICATION

Expressing the desire to keep the oceans clean, FLM Têxtil received the Seaqual Marine Plastic Certification. Without compromising the quality of its products, the company, through this certification, guarantees that it transforms plastic linked to the ocean into sustainable textiles. Seaqual Marine Plastic Certification is a new traceable raw material that raises awareness for marine litter.

Based in Guimarães, focused on innovation and sustainability, FLM Têxtil continues its work and growth and guarantees its commitment to making its production increasingly greener through this title.

“FLM Têxtil is proud to embrace Seaqual Certification, transforming plastic linked to the ocean into sustainable and beautiful textiles. Together, we are making waves for a cleaner planet”, shared the company on its social networks.

The Seaqual Initiative emerged in 2016 and works with NGOs, fishermen, authorities, research institutes, and local communities to help clean the seas and oceans. Marine litter from beaches, the bottom of the ocean or its surface, and even estuaries are cleaned through cleaning programs. The materials from this can, among many other things, become textile materials.

6Dias Têxteis, A. Sampaio, Lemar, or Sorema are other Portuguese examples that also hold this certification. Along the same lines, it is relevant to remember the BSEArcular project, developed in partnership between A. Sampaio & Filhos, Lemar, Inedit Studio, Seaqual, Epson and the Lisbon School of Design. An initiative created to give new life to waste that pollutes the oceans was presented to the public on November 16, 2022.
