Committed to investing in sustainability, Familitex has just launched a new knit collection where the star is corn. The bet was on a bio-based fiber extracted from corn, using a natural resource instead of coal – 30% corn-based bio-elastane.
“Bio-based elastane reduces carbon emissions by 23% compared to conventional products. Without any constraints in the production process, 30% corn-based elastane promises to be an added value in our Green line”, Ana Araújo, responsible for the Innovation, Design, and Marketing department, explained to T Jornal.
To this end, the company unveiled three new distinct knits: “a piqué with 48% recycled cotton, 48% recycled polyester and 4% bio-based elastane, a fantasy jersey with 48% recycled cotton, 48% organic cotton and 4% elastane bio and a bio-based 97% organic cotton 3% elastane jacquard jersey.
The motto of this collection aligns with the company’s desire: increase the strength of the sustainability aspect. For some years now, through its Green line, the company has been looking for new products that can add value.
“Familitex seeks to consolidate and develop relationships of trust with its most environmentally conscious and enlightened customers. Our yarns are carefully selected, coming from ethical and sustainable sources. Resulting in knitwear that not only fits but also tells a story of environmental responsibility”, concluded Ana Araújo.
