Cosmiknit will participate for the second time in Première Vision Paris, in an edition highlighting Portuguese savoir-faire. The event offers the Portuguese knitwear company an opportunity to showcase its expertise in flat knitting — a technology currently mastered by only two companies in Europe.
While previous editions focused primarily on footwear, Cosmiknit this year aims to demonstrate the versatility of the technology, applying it to new products such as scarves and belts.
“Our goal is to make ourselves known. We started our activity in the midst of Covid, went through a year and a half of ‘wear and tear,’ and are now beginning a consistent process of participating in fairs to gain wider recognition,” explained Pedro Félix, the company’s general manager, in an interview with T Jornal.
Asked what makes Made in Portugal difficult to replicate, Félix was clear: “the people, with excellent skills,” combined with a business culture marked by resilience and a distinctive approach to doing business. “We are very resilient and we still conduct business with heart,” he emphasises.
Cosmiknit embodies this philosophy by combining investment in technology with a strong focus on its team. The company has recently strengthened its staff to continue offering increasingly differentiated products aimed at the luxury segment.
“We work with a focus on precision, consistency and attention to detail,” the company notes, adding that for the upcoming season, visitors can expect a collection featuring diverse textures, vibrant colours and structures designed to meet the demands of the premium segment.
Part of the Shoe Atelier group, Cosmiknit will exhibit in the Leather section of Première Vision Paris, which runs from 3 to 5 February. Pedro Félix also highlights that Portugal is one of the few European countries that has managed to maintain its industrial base, at a time when many economies have moved production elsewhere for competitive reasons.
“The fact that Portugal has preserved its industry reflects its know-how,” he says, adding that the future lies in positioning within higher price segments. Recognition from Première Vision is therefore seen as a key factor to increase the visibility of Portuguese exhibitors and strengthen their presence in international markets.
