Cordex highlights Cordex Pro range at Techtextil

Cordex is showcasing its know-how at Techtextil until tomorrow. “This fair is a meeting point with clients and also a way to attract new prospects,” says Sales Director Nuno Vitó to T Jornal, recalling that the company has been participating in the event for 20 years.

Integrated into the Portuguese island in Hall 11.1, the rope manufacturer considers this joint participation to have an added impact. “We should look at what unites us,” the executive stresses.

Agriculture remains Cordex’s main segment, accounting for around 85% of its turnover. However, the company also operates in industry and services, namely construction, safety, packaging and geotextiles, through its Cordex Pro range.

Among the highlighted products, Nuno Vitó points to polypropylene and high-tenacity Poly-Steel ropes.

The growth strategy is based on expanding the product range, always with a focus on sustainability. In a context marked by geopolitical uncertainty, the sales director acknowledges that the situation has a direct impact on key costs—raw materials, energy and logistics—which are therefore closely monitored.

With more than 600 employees, Cordex has a solid structure that allows it to maintain stability while continuing an investment-driven path.

The short-, medium- and long-term objective is to further strengthen its sustainable product offering: “We want to be part of the circular economy, minimising the use of virgin materials and increasing the incorporation of biodegradable materials. In doing so, we will reduce the carbon footprint,” he explains.

With more than 57 years of activity, the company has undergone several transformations and investments to sustain its market position. Currently, the focus is on artificial intelligence.

According to Nuno Vitó, the factory is already partially automated: “We have never looked at these issues in a limited way. We always see innovation as an opportunity for optimisation and we have more projects to continue this path of digitalisation and automation.”

The concept of adaptive factories has been explored by Cordex for several years under different approaches, with a clear goal: “To have information to make better decisions,” he concludes.
