From the most basic knits to performance items, in alternative or textured raw materials, Casa da Malha presents a collection structured in five lines for the new spring-summer 2026 season: Essential, Performance, Rethink, Natural and Engineered.
Cláudia Costa, head of design and development, explains to T Jornal what these categories consist of. ‘The first is made up of basic cotton items, simple cotton-rich jersey constructions, interlocks, ribs and piques,’ created with versatility in mind, with a soft touch for long-lasting comfort.
Performance has additional properties for garments intended for sports with a fashion component, ‘they are therefore more elastic knits’. They offer moisture absorption properties, quick drying, thermoregulation, shape retention, lightness and high durability.
Rethink, on the other hand, ‘presents different production processes and incorporates alternative raw materials,’ she adds, citing the example of bio-based EVO, recycled pigments such as Recycrom and solutions such as Colorfix, which are totally designed to have a low impact.
Natural, as the name suggests, ‘explores the natural colour of fibres such as wool’. It is made with premium fibres and yarns, including linen, hemp, cashmere and silk. ‘These circular knit constructions offer colours inspired by the alchemy of nature,’ she says.
Finally, Engineered explores ‘the visual aspect of the knit, the touch…that’s where we see bouclé fabrics’ for example. The Engineered collection includes a wide range of customised jacquard knits, yarn-dyed stripes and classic viscose constructions for an elegant fit.
Casa da Malha attended Première Vision New York last January – ‘it’s a smaller fair, but it went very well, with interesting contacts’ – followed by Milano Única, with Première Vision Paris still to come. Although the fair is getting quieter, she believes that ‘it could still surprise us’.
