Last December, Borgstena announced that it had joined the Science Based Targets initiative, created with the aim of helping companies to grow sustainably and make the transition to a zero-emissions economy. It now has 24 months to develop a science-based target that aligns with the SBTi criteria.
SBTi is a corporate climate action organisation that enables companies and financial institutions to play their part in fighting the climate crisis. It works to develop standards, tools and guidelines for companies and financial institutions to set greenhouse gas reduction targets.
The network includes 9,833 companies, including the Portuguese companies Altri, Bondalti Chemicals, Rangel, Riopele, Tintex Textiles and TMG Automotive. There is already a section created specifically for the textiles and clothing sector, which is being developed to serve as a guide for companies, including indicators for evaluating criteria.
