BE@T: TRIES TO JOIN ‘THE POINTS’ BETWEEN INDUSTRY AND DESIGNERS

The be@t project held a roundtable on innovation in the textile industry to share insights on how some companies are driving change. The event motto was to make designers aware of the possibilities of working with other departments.

“To make known that the industry can share, that is to say, bring the two worlds closer in some way, from those who work in the brand, design and search for materials, what kind of solutions can they find, namely in Portugal”, explained to T Jornal, Ana Silva Tavares, CEO of RDD Textiles.

According to the testimony of Ana Silva Tavares, this person in charge shared during the meeting the working method of RDD Textiles, which is very much at the base of the development for the implementation of skill of new technologies, applied to the textile from the fiber to the dyeing, finishing, use of pigments for stamping, among others.

“We had different players: we had Riopele, and we had Louropele, which produces buttons, and what you can see is that this part of innovation and sustainable development, alternative development to conventional development, is present in all segments of the sector and that it is possible for us to jointly present alternative final product solutions to what we know today, working together”.

Asked what the next steps are, the CEO of RDD Textiles revealed “the constant search and development of new materials, within the scope of the be@t project, that is, materials focus on nature, bio-materials. Moreover, the innovations presented during the panel by all companies were all in this direction, natural resources to obtain materials to the textile sector”.
