BACCUS invests in solar energy and secures 40% autonomy

DCD, the company behind the Portuguese shirt brand BACCUS, completed the installation of solar panels at its headquarters this March, as part of its strategy to strengthen its commitment to sustainability.

According to its current monthly energy balance, the system is delivering 40% energy autonomy, the company told T Jornal this Friday. “Of the 1,545 kWh produced, 33% is consumed immediately, while the remaining 67% is fed into the grid, creating room for optimizing consumption during sunny periods,” it explained.

On a monthly basis, DCD avoids CO₂ emissions equivalent to the absorption capacity of 11 trees. Cumulatively, the project’s impact already corresponds to approximately 25 trees planted.

“By securing in-house production of 40% of our energy needs, we create a protective buffer against energy inflation,” the company concludes, referring to the impact that the conflict in the Middle East is having across multiple sectors. “The more electricity prices rise in the wholesale market, the greater the actual savings generated by the system, accelerating the return on investment and ensuring greater predictability of operating costs,” it adds.
