ATP – the Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal is participating in the second edition of the Resotex Fair, which kicks off tomorrow in Plasencia, transforming the historic center of the Spanish city into the epicenter of sustainable and circular fashion.
Running until September 28, the event features thematic sessions, masterclasses, upcycling workshops, clothes swap initiatives, the Reso-Lab – a space for collective installations – awareness campaigns, and the Resotex runway, showcasing collections from Portuguese and Spanish designers.
The fair’s program will be spread across six iconic venues in the city: Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza del Mercado, Complejo Santa María, Las Claras, and the Pérez Enciso Textile Ethnographic Museum.
ATP’s participation begins at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the Las Claras Cultural Center, with an intervention by its director-general, Ana Dinis, in a roundtable dedicated to the theme “El valor del taller: confección, arreglos, upcycling y futuro circular” (“The value of the workshop: clothing, alterations, upcycling, and a circular future”). The session will be moderated by Alfredo Medina, from the Spanish Federation of Clothing Companies, and will also feature Patricia Sánchez and Aécio Dantas, from Grupo Atelier and Silbon, respectively.
The program also includes the roundtable “Presentación de los resultados del Estudio de Materiales Sostenibles en la Industria Textil Transfronteriza” (“Presentation of the Results of the Sustainable Materials Study in the Cross-Border Textile Industry”), led by Pepa González (11:00 a.m.), followed by a session on sharing experiences and best practices in the use of sustainable materials (11:30 a.m.), with the participation of Catarina Gomes, from the Portuguese company J. Gomes.
The company will also be present as an exhibitor and will take to the runway on September 28 at 12:00 p.m. in Plaza de la Catedral to present its own brand, Ri Peter.
Resotex is currently the only cross-border event dedicated to sustainable fashion and textile recycling, bringing together companies, entrepreneurs, designers, artisans, artists, and industry experts from Spain and Portugal.
Created within the framework of the Resotex project, the initiative aims to promote sustainable innovation and raise awareness about textile recycling.
The project is led by the Spanish province of Cáceres and co-financed by the Interreg Program, bringing together a consortium of 13 Spanish and Portuguese entities – including ATP – with a focus on fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and circular economy practices.
