ATP ENDED SUSTAINABLE FASHION FROM PORTUGAL PROJECT

Promoting the sustainability of the Portuguese textile and clothing industry since 2020, the Sustainable Fashion From Portugal (SFFP): Fashion Industry’s New Chic project, created by ATP, had its closing session on the afternoon of May 31th at the Wool Museum from the University of Beira Interior.

Ana Paula Dinis, Executive Director of ATP, and Professor Nuno Belino from the University of Beira Interior (UBI) led the opening session, followed by the results presentation of the project.

Within the project scope and over more than two years, ATP carried out a series of activities that made it possible to show the world the different sustainability practices of the Portuguese textile and fashion industry. It was a valuable contribution to position Portugal as one of the principal leaders in this area, making itself known in new markets and promoting new business opportunities.

The main objective was to “promote the image of companies in the fashion sector and the Portuguese Textile and Clothing sector in an international context, associating it with an image of sustainability and social responsibility”, says Ana Paula Dinis.

“In addition to disseminating this information internationally, this project also included the good practices sharing among national entrepreneurs so that more companies can follow this path. But there is no doubt that Portugal is today a leader in good sustainability practices”, concludes the executive director of ATP.

During this period, the project also played a relevant role as an agent for disseminating reliable information about Portuguese production and good sustainability practices, both in terms of processes and materials, without forgetting the area of business models.
