ATP – Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal has joined forces with Maab Consulting, a consultancy and internationalization services company, to bring buyers from Arab countries to Modtissimo, which takes place on 12 and 13 September at Exponor. Pedro Garcia, director of Maab, explained to T Jornal the three approaches he will take to attract his contacts: “The first approach will be to clients who want to manufacture in Portugal, who are more concentrated in the Gulf area,” he said.
Then “we can bring in multi-brand shops and department stores to see the potential of Portuguese brands” and customers who “are interested in buying yarn and knitwear, in other words, companies from Egypt and Tunisia that want to buy raw materials”.
This triple strategy is only possible thanks to the transversal nature of the Modtissimo textile show. An A to Z show that brings together suppliers of raw materials, fabrics and accessories, clothing manufacturers and services. ” Over the last year we’ve grown a lot and created a close relationship with our customers, and the expectations that Arab companies will accept the challenge are high,” he says with confidence.
“I don’t see why in one of the next editions we shouldn’t even have an Arab country as a guest country,” continues Pedro Garcia. “We’re going to organise it in such a way that it will be interesting for both sides, that it will allow customers to get to know the fair and also that they can visit companies afterwards,” he concludes enthusiastically.
