ATB REVOLUTIONISES WATER USE

ATB wants to lead the sustainable revolution in knitwear dyeing and in the sectors in which it operates. To this end, it has taken an integrated approach combining innovative technologies and new products. The result is already noticeable: it uses 74 liters of water per kilogram of knitwear produced, a reduction of more than 25% compared to the figures of recent years.

To achieve these results they use, among other processes, the new Colorifix dye, which “represents a significant step towards a greener future, combining the innovation of biotechnology with a traditional sector such as the textile industry”, says Ricardo Mano, CEO of ATB to T Jornal.

The company has also invested in bio-based dyes and new auxiliary dyeing products to reduce the need for multiple washes and minimize the impact on wastewater. “We have the means and tools to dye with even smaller volumes of water, but the market needs to appreciate it and be willing to pay for it,” he says.

Proving it again: “We have reduced water consumption in linen dyeing by around 25 per cent compared to conventional dyeing, while maintaining exceptional quality. ATB is not only reducing its water consumption, but also setting new standards for the textile industry,” he concludes.

Besides reducing water consumption, it has made progress in reducing its carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, replacing traditional energy sources with cleaner, renewable alternatives. For over two decades, ATB has been committed to environmental responsibility, as evidenced by its ISO14001 environmental management system certification.
